Why Record?
We spend much time in the bush, observing plants and animals. Noting unusual or familiar sightings can be exciting, but these observations are only anecdotal unless we record them in a scientific database.
Recording observations:
- Helps define the current distribution of a species and measures changes in its distribution over space and time.
- Adds to the knowledge of a species by documenting appearance, behavior, breeding and food preferences.
- Contributes to conservation efforts for a rare or threatened species.
The club encourages all members to record their bird observations in eBird and observations of all other living things in iNaturalist.
