GFNC are organising, in association with BirdLife Australia, the Challenge Bird Count (CBC) for 2023. 

It  was decided last year to run the CBC rotating  between our two regular routes in alternate years and so 2023  will be the Bellarine Peninsula / Surf Coast route. We hope this will enable more people to participate for the whole day or a part of it.

This bird-filled day is a great way to learn more about our local birds and their haunts and habits.

We will be visiting a number of key sites to search for birds along the GFNC CBC route starting  at Point Addis ocean carpark at 6.00 am and then making our way  along Forest Rd and associated sites, Breamlea, Hospital Swamp, Lake Connewarre, Barwon Estuary, Lake Victoria, Swan Bay, Lake Lorne , Reedy Lake and ending up at Eastern Park around 6.30pm.
