Meet:  roadside on the bend near 76 Canopus Circuit, Long Forest. We willl park some cars off the road as well as some along the road. From Geelong, travel to Bacchus Marsh via Geelong-B/Marsh rd, continue through town on Main st, which then becomes another Bacchus Marsh Rd, stay on the same road which becomes the Old Western Freeway, stay on the road for 1-2km and turn left into Long Forest Road, Canopus Circuit is a few kilometres along the way on the left hand side of the road.

Our route for the day will be Long Point Track, intersecting with Coimadai Creek Track.

General: Long Forest is a beautiful vestige from the past, merely saved from clearing for pastoral land due to its topography, geology and dedicated conservationists. A very diverse dry woodland containing mixed Eucalyptus sp. as well as some Mallees. The park has diverse plant and bird life and in particular a few bird species not normally found this far south of The Great Dividing Range. If you are keen to hopefully see or experience these treasures, please join us.

(Life Member Marilyn Hewish will be part of the guiding team)

Time: Our group will depart the car parking area at 9.00am sharp. Please arrive no later than 8.45am, sign in and listen to safety protocols.

Lunch: Lunch will be at 12.30pm at an area adjacent our vehicles. After lunch, some people may stay and observe birds in other locations.

Toilets: Nearest toilets are at Rupert Vance Moon Reserve where the Old Western Freeway meets the Lerderderg River at Bacchus Marsh rd, Bacchus Marsh.
