CANCELLED due to hot/windy weather and Extreme Fire Danger

We have been kindly offered the property of Peter Fry to birdwatch the many species that he sees regularly.

The excursion will take place at 470 Avalon Road Lara, on private property.

Meet at 8.45 am for sign in. The walk will start at 9am sharp. Please drive down Avalon Road until you see a large blue/grey shed on the right, next door to Avalon College. The A frame Bird Event bird sign will be visible from the road. If you go beyond Avalon College, you have gone too far. Go through the gate beside the blue/grey shed and park on the grassed area.

(Toilets are available at Avalon Beach, a short drive from the property so you might want to check in there before entering the parking area.)

From here, we will circle a small water hole, a treed area and a small orchard around the house. A variety of birds can be seen here including honeyeaters, finches and raptors. After morning tea, we will then make our way along less wooded parts of the property.

After this, we will drive and park at Avalon Beach and observe any action on the beachfront. Finishing time will be around midday after the bird count.

Bring good walking shoes, repellent, sunblock, camera and/or binoculars. You will also need a folding chair,  and morning tea. Check the weather forecast please: and events are be cancelled if a total Fire Ban
